WOOOD apartments
Leidschendam

WOOOD is a small-scale residential building in Leidschendam comprising 15 contemporary apartments. The façade, finished with various Platowood Spruce profiles, gives the wooden building a warm and contemporary appearance. Waterland developed and delivered the project in a unique location between the elegant town of Voorburg and a beautiful nature reserve. The single-level, energy-efficient apartments offer comfortable, future-proof living.

The wooden façade was given a fire-retardant treatment by our Partner in fire retardancy, Hestus, and meets fire classification B-s1,d0.

WOOOD stands out through its use of timber construction. Although wood is increasingly used for single-family homes, timber structures are still relatively innovative in apartment buildings. Sound insulation required particular technical precision, as wood has less mass than concrete. Modern construction techniques made it possible to create a comfortable and pleasant residential building.

The façade is clad horizontally and vertically with Platowood Spruce in various profiles and dimensions. The variation in direction, dimensions and colour gives the building a diverse appearance. The brushed façade cladding is finished with Natural Colorstain, Weathered Colorstain and a two-coat finish in RAL 9010.

The wood was given a fire-retardant treatment by Hestus and meets fire classification B-s1,d0. This distinctive residential building brings together the natural appearance of wood, sustainability and fire safety.
